EDITORIAL Guidelines

Welcome to the WTSA Newsroom — a global hub for sensory science, wellness, advocacy, cross-modal creativity, and the future of perception.

Our mission is to advance well-being and sensory awareness through interdisciplinary storytelling, research, advocacy, and innovation. We believe that taste and smell are not just biological senses — they are portals to memory, identity, healing, and connection.

We invite submissions from scientists, clinicians, chefs, perfumers, flavorists, technologists, artists, farmers, philosophers, and storytellers who explore the world through the senses.

What We Publish

We are looking for fresh, well-written, sensory-first stories, including but not limited to:

  • Scientific insights on olfaction, gustation, neuroplasticity, and multisensory perception

  • Personal narratives about smell or taste loss and recovery

  • Cultural essays on food, fragrance, rituals, or traditions

  • Innovations in sensory tech, diagnostics, or design

  • Interviews and profiles of sensory pioneers

  • Perspectives from artists, chefs, and creators working at the intersection of the senses

  • Reflections on public health, access, and sensory justice

  • Event recaps or previews from the Global Taste & Smell Summit and other WTSA initiatives

We love pieces that are curious, emotionally resonant, accessible, and grounded in expertise or lived experience.

Submission Requirements

  • Length: 600–2,500 words

  • Tone: Engaging, clear, and respectful. Please avoid overly academic language unless writing a scientific breakdown.

  • Citations: If referencing studies or data, include source links (preferably DOIs or .edu/.gov/.org links).

  • Media: You’re encouraged to include original photos, diagrams, or video clips where appropriate. Please only submit visuals you have the rights to use.

  • Language: English only for now.
